Melt Pressure
Transducer and transmitters

Gefran patented:

IMPACT sensor technology

IMPACT is the acronym for Innovative Melt Pressure ACcurate Transducer, an innovative technology for measuring the pressure of high-temperature fluids.

Extrusion of polycarbonate sheets

This application is characterized by:
  • high abrasiveness of polycarbonate
  • high adhesiveness of contact material
  • pressure spikes due to cold start in case of subsequent system re-starts

Answer:
IMPACT series with 0-10V and 4-20mA electrical or 3.33mV/V non-amplified outputs, single mechanics and magnetic Autozero function.

Advantages of IMPACT: polycarbonate sheets

  • the 1.5 mm thick 15-5PH steel contact diaphragm ensures greater durability: at least 3 times longer than Melt pressure sensors made with traditional filling technology, even when used with highly abrasive materials such as PC
  • the thick diaphragm makes Impact sensors completely insensitive to cold starts
  • The special GTP coating on the diaphragm resists wear and high temperature, and provides a lower friction coefficient that reduces adhesion of plastics
